Homes surrounded by mature trees may need an additional mid-summer check, while homes with few nearby trees can often get away with the two seasonal cleanings alone.

Gutter guards cut down significantly on debris buildup, especially on homes with heavy tree cover, but they don't remove the need for occasional maintenance entirely — fine debris and granules can still accumulate over time.
